Menswear Design Assistant

- Job Summary
The Menswear design assistant will be responsible for the successful day-to-day running of the menswear department of the business. Play a key role in creating and developing menswear collections, with a specific emphasis on suits, shirts, kaftans, agbada etc. This role requires a strong understanding classic menswear, sartorial craftsmanship, garment construction, styling and attention to detail.

- Create sketches, technical drawings, and pattern drafts
- Ability to communicate both technical and creative ideas to stakeholders
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Performing extensive market research on trends, fabric and techniques for competitive opportunities
- Assist with photo shoots and presentations
- Handling client consultation, fabric selection, sourcing, garment construction, QC, fitting and final delivery
- Managing the design process from conception through to final styling
- Liaising with customers, production, suppliers and other vendors
- Assisting clients in making design decisions by proposing changes or alterations
- Inspecting fabric/end design to ensure specification and quality standards are met plus ability to identify design or production errors and prefer solutions
- Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in classic menswear, with a focus on suits and traditional attire
- Strong portfolio showcasing expertise
- Proficiency in pattern making, garment construction and styling
- Educational background in fashion design or a related field
- Resident in or near Lekki phase 1is an added advantage
